Facial Plastic Surgery Questions and Answers: Part 8

Question: Why wouldn’t rhinoplasty raise my lip?
Answer: To make sure you’re even a candidate for a rhinoplasty would require a full set of pictures from all angles, since the nose is three-dimensional, and rhinoplasty is performed three-dimensionally. Trying to raise your upper lip with a rhinoplasty procedure will simply not work because your muscles in your upper lip will pull the nasal tip downward.

Question: Facelift nerves. What are the chances of it causing my to have a droopy lip?
Answer: Facelift nerves. What are the chances of it causing to have a droopy lip
If you have fat deposits located below the platysma muscle in your neck, you are at a higher chance of having a temporary lower lip that is droopy. The facial nerve branch that runs the lower lip is located in that area. A full set of facial photographs from all angles would be required to better answer your question. The chance of getting a droopy lower lip is very low, and it’s almost always a temporary issue.

Question: ENT or plastic surgeon for rhinoplasty?
Answer: ENT or Facial Plastic Surgeon for rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is the most difficult procedure to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so you need to find a rhinoplasty specialist. Look for a double board-certified, ENT and Facial Plastic Surgeon with an extensive portfolio before and after photos. Study your prospective surgeon’s rhinoplasty photo gallery, which should be extensive with results that you like.

Question: Improvement of neck with facelift?
Answer: Improvement of neck with a facelift
In our practice, a lower face and neck lift involves tightening loose neck skin, tightening loose neck muscles, and removing any fat deposits in the neck. Performing only a facelift from in front and behind ears will not have any beneficial effect in the neck itself. You should be very clear with your surgeon about what your needs are, and what the surgeon can accomplish. There are many different types of facelift procedures, so it’s important to be very specific about your needs.

Question: A surgeon told me what I want isn’t possible – is it true?
Answer: A surgeon told me what I want is not possible
It’s extremely important to have realistic expectations when undergoing a rhinoplasty procedure. You can’t just pick any type of nose that you want. You’re going to have limitations based on your current bone and cartilage anatomy of YOUR nose. Digital computer imaging of your nose(Not someone else’s) it’s very important to understand what can AND cannot be accomplished with your nose. Rhinoplasty is the most difficult operation to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so it’s imperative to have realistic expectations and get a natural looking nose that doesn’t look “done.” Trying to create a little button nose out of your nasal anatomy, would be a potential disaster.

Question: Wide nose treatment recommendations?
Answer: Wide nose treatment options
The pictures are not adequate in order to make a determination about what you may or may not need. If you’re just looking to narrow your nostrils, an alar plasty can be performed under local anesthesia to accomplish narrowing. Osteotomies placed in the nasal bones can accomplish narrowing a bridge line.

Question: Why is my nose lopsided 6 months post-op?
Answer: Why is my nose is lopsided six months postop rhinoplasty?
The nose is a three dimensional structure, rhinoplasty is performed in all three dimensions, and it heals three dimensionally. If your nose is still lopsided one year after your primary rhinoplasty then you can consider a revision to make it more symmetrical. A full set of facial photographs and a copy of the operative report would be required help make a determination about how best to proceed.

Question: Do I need incision under my chin?
Answer: Do I need an incision under my chin?
In our practice, an incision underneath the chin is mandatory in order to rejuvenate the neck. If you don’t make that incision, you’re not gonna have a rejuvenated neck at all. Through that incision, a platysma plasty is performed, and fat removal is also performed when needed to remove fat deposits located both above and below the platysma muscle in your neck.

Question: How long should I wait between my rhinoplasty and Brazilian butt lift procedures?
Answer: How long should I wait between my rhinoplasty and BBL procedures
Probably best to wait at least a month between two general anesthetics and two surgical procedures. Rhinoplasty is one of the more difficult procedures to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so choose your surgeon wisely, based on extensive experience producing natural results.

Question: What can be done to my nose?
Answer: What can be done to my nose?
A closed rhinoplasty approach can accomplish shaving down the dorsal hump, refining your bulbous nasal tip, and narrow the bridge line with all of the incisions placed on the inside of the nose. Also important to release the depressor septi ligament which dynamically pulls your tip down when smiling. All the incisions are placed on the inside of the nose and no painful packing is required either. Digital computer imaging would be helpful to understand what can and cannot be accomplished with your nose upon your facial features.
